Hi , I've been both ways from Middlesbrough to Pickering, the route big al shows was shorter but a bit narrow in places, got some tree scratches on my van, the A19 at thirsk way was longer but seemed easier.

Probably the same as yours, the trees and bushes overhanging the road made it more narrow, especially when a HGV approached!!!
