Have a look at the older Adria Altea range, I used to have a 432px which had a miro of 850kg and an Mptlm of 1100kg. With some careful packing you could make the 1000kg easily.

when looking at the max weight a car can tow, do i look at the MiRO or the MTPLM
MTPLM is the maximum loaded weight of caravan so your car's tow weight limit needs to be at least this. However tow weight limit quoted in car handbook is a technical figure based on what car is capable of towing not what is safe to tow & it is recommended(but not a legal requirement)that maximum on road weight of caravan is around 85% of on road weight of car.
So if caravan has Mtplm of about 1tonne your car needs to weigh about 1200kg or a bit less. Not critical but it is best if caravan weighs somewhat less than car.
thank you so much for all your replies, and the info regarding weights
we had a peruse round a few caravans today (very exciting!) and saw a van that we really liked - it was a Bailey Discovery 100. I really really liked the "u" shaped sofa end at the front, and have discovered that this seems to be unusual, most of the vans had two separate sofa's with drawers in the middle
are there any other vans that have a "u" shaped lounge or is there a good reason why not many vans have this configuration?
also, have noticed that most vans didnt have an oven - just a hob and grill - is this usual? I'm assuming it helps keep weight down but i cant imagine going away for two or more weeks without an oven to cook pizza and chips in!

I would have thought a Bailey Discovery 100 the Max Laded weight is 1104KG (this might be too much for your car) but the choice is yours to make..
Hi I just seen this at Tamworth Caravans (01827262666)
2006 GOING II 350/4 dd Super Lightweight 4 berth
Priced £4,599
It looks like it got the same layout as the Bailey and it could be a ideal match for your car .
It one mile from Junction 10 M42
yes maybe bit too optimistic about the weight....the MiRO for the bailey was 860kg and we were hoping that as long as we were careful we could keep the laden weight to 1000kg. Having said that i'm not sure how much all the bits we need would weigh - water container, leisure battery, step, crocks etc
