I have the 1, 6kg calorlite bottle, when empty its 4.52kg.
the BP gaslight weighs 3.7kg.
so there's only .82 kg difference in the weight.
remember tho, you get 1kg of gas less, a saving of 1.82kg in total weight, but you will have to refill more often.

I don't think its worth the expense to change just for that amount.
If I was starting out, with no bottles, then I would go down that route.

However what was mooted by the OP was moving to the 10 kg BP GasLight bottles. These hold 67% more propane than the Calor-lite and with a "tare" weight of only 5.3 kgs.

We have two calor lite bottles. Early on there was a bit of a bottle shortage and stores were reluctant to sell the bottles but i haven't come across this recently - we've changed both bottles this season so far and no problems in finding stock. I'd call your nearest gas suppliers and check for yourself if they have them in regularly before you make a decision.

Thanks for all the replies. I will wait until I run out and depending where I am in the country will probably depend on what I get!
