i think if you think you have too much stuff in van best bet is to empty van and weigh everything as you put it back in, you will be very surprised how much it adds up to. what is the van load capacity?
What paul1966 is asking is what the caravan payload is. That is the MTPLM (maximum laden weight) minus the MIRO (unladen weight). If you calculate this then the result is the weight allowed called the caravan 'payload' which is what you are allowed to carry inside the caravan whilst towing. The figure should be around the 200-250 kgs. mark.
Our outfit comes out at 89% when fully loaded so we are also trying to be frugal when placing things inside. We've got 390 awning, 3 lightweight chairs, waste hog and aqua roll, some melamine crockery with few bits of cutlery and then bedding under benches at front. There's also gas bottle, and mover i think to add on?
------------- I went to the top of the mountain...and looked over the other side!
I have little plastic baskets which I bought from the pound shop and they live in the cupboards I store my condiments, sauces and coffee, tea, sugar containers in these when travelling. I leave cereals in a small lidded plastic box. Aquaroll is put in a wheelie bin bag and placed in one of the seats, the chairs then slot in the space with the cushion lodged beteen the seats to stop them moving. Wastehog also i a wheelie bin bag and goes over the axle with awning and peg box. I take everything out of the fridge as it ends up over the floor. My cutlery drawers have a habit of opening when in transit so these arebremoved and wedged on the sofas between front drawers. As the aerial is light, this goes in bathroom. Becaue of the weight ratio we carrynthe awnjng poles, bags, and food in shopping bag, tv in the car. Oops and forgot, I always leave a set of underwear in wardrobe as I have a habit of forgetting to pack some
Nothing heavy as that goes over the axle or in the car but it's amazing how much stuff you put in and forget to remove. Just had to empty the van as it's in for servicing tomorrow and Wow! why is all this stuff still in lockers? A careful sort out is in order when it comes back as all that extra weight is costing me money in fuel to cart around.
I do however make sure that absolutely nothing heavy is ever kept in a locker over a worktop as that can be disasterous if it falls out.
We're the same as most on here cups plates etc go in the cupboards in there rack clothes in the wardrobe but its over the axel awning over the axel never fill the toilet or take water in the caravan we take some bottled water for the dogs but it goes in the car. As long as the load weight is fine the nose weights ok and the heavy stuff is lower down there's no problem. The hole point if us getting a caravan was do we didn't have to keep packing and unpacking bags every time we when away and back
