We are in Darlington and recently used CG Caravan Services. Craig serviced our Pennine Pathfinder in July and charged us £90. That included new hub nuts and a fix to our Alko hitch.
He only charges £129 for a single axle full service. Have a look at http://www.cgcaravanservices.com/Price-list(1348288).htm
He was doing it for almost 2 hours and didn't mind me hanging around. Certainly worth a go when you're due another service.
Our local dealer is rubbish too (actually they don't sell caravans any more, they hire out motorcaravans). I think the bloke there must be related to the folk at Catterick!
Will bear Pope's in mind when our service is due but will probably go for a mobile servicer.
After our experience with Catterick Cavavans over the last year my wife has after 35 years of camping and caravaning has spoke of giving up on our much loved hobby.
THIS OUTFIT ARE A DISGRACE. Ted docherty. Middlesbrough
I wish I had read this when it was first posted.
In July last year I purchased a brand new Lunar Clubman SI from Catterick and have experienced all sorts of problems ( poor Lunar QT ).
On my first contact with Catterick they explained that the warranty was actually with lunar caravans and not with themselves so I would have to return later when they had been given authority, from Lunar, to carry out any work. ????? THIS WAS A NEW ONE DAYS USE CARAVAN!
I opted to take it to Ebor York ( a satellite branch of Catterick ).
I had to return the van to Ebor to have the front windows replaced due to them warping (apparently a problem with the materials used not up to the job).
Lunar had decided to replace the windows with a shorter version and glue a decorative panel underneath the shorter windows.
However within one week of collecting my caravan this panel started to come off.
I returned to Ebor with a strong complaint ( it would appear that they forgot to put any glue on it and thought the double sided sticky tape was supposed to hold it on ).
When is poke to Lunar they informed me that all dealers had been given specific instructions on how to fit it (including a video) so they couldn't understand why it was not done correctly.
I had to leave it with them so they could "remove all the sticky residue" and refit properly however when I was told to pick it up I found it was worse than ever, they had simply bent back the loose ends ans applied a few blobs of glue that had just come straight off again, what's more the 'service' guy had left his filthy hand prints over the cream armrest upholstery.
I am now fighting with Lunar for the right to have this carried out by another qualified dealer. They are saying I have to return it to Ebor!!!
Just seen these recent reviews about Catterick Caravans. Wish we had taken our own advice!! Perhaps we thought things may have improved. Wrong. We thought we only wanted a motor mover fitted so should be ok? Wrong again! After our previous review we sold our Clubman SE and bought a 2014 Lexon 640 (not from Catterick), picked up in March. A week after delivery we booked it into Ebor Lesiure, York, to have a motor mover fitted, as they are by far our closest dealer and had a really good price. To be fair, the mover was fitted and that part was ok, works well. The caravan was a different story! Our brand new, factory fresh, new van was filthy on collection! Dusty grit all over the floor (fortunately, due to our previous experience my wife had removed the carpets), and dirty, dusty hand prints all over the cushions and seat covers. Do they have ANY concept regarding the care of people's property? It appears, a year on, things have sadly not improved. Such a shame, as someone else has commented that this WAS a lovely, customer focused, family run company. OK still family run perhaps but they don't seem to care any more.
We bought our caravan from The Caravan Company (branch near Reading, Berkshire) and have been very happy with everything. Ours is a 2000 model Swift Challenger which was in good condition and came with a 6 month warranty and a lot of extras. The customer service was very good and at the handover, the bloke who showed us everything even brought out a potted plant for my Wife.
However, during the winter rain this year we developed a leak. I took it back and they tried to fix it, but with more rain it was still letting in water. I took it back a second time and they were very apologetic for not fixing it the first time. They re-aligned the door and put a new door seal on. This fixed it and I have had no problems since. All this was done under warranty and therefore cost me nothing. Its sad to hear stories about poor customer service. My experience from my seller was very good and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and would recommend them to anyone.

That's good to hear Kernow63.
It is just as important to shout about the 'good' guys as I suspect they are far and few between.
My Lunar is now due for its first service and I have no intention of giving another penny to Catterick so I have booked it in at Leeds Caravan Centre on York road Leeds.
I will certainly sing their praises if they do a good job.
Way down south (!) have been to both Lee Davey in Maidstone and Milestone in Hawkinge and both have been pretty good. Milestone shade it as they are a real family business, but I have to say that Andy, the workshop manager at Lee Davey, was a 'top bloke' when it came to dealing with Bailey for the problems we've had with our pegasus. Both dealers are recommended....

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
No surprise Catterick Caravans are still deserving of a poor reputation. I wouldn't darken the doors of the place after buying our Sterling there 18 months ago. Thank goodness for Ropers Caravans just across the road for all our 'van supplies!
