Taking the (completely unneccessary-so-why-do-they-bother-painting-it) paint off a towball can be done really quickly if you have access to a wire wheel attachment that you can put on your drill.
Takes about 5 minutes with that, or about 15-20 minutes with sandpaper.

I think my job tomorrow is to take the paint off, when i read the instuctions it did say remove it. Paul thank you for you help with the loading,and my hubby said it was just for piece of mind.
There are videos on You Tube to show how to retro-fit a stabiliser. There is one important bit about the retaining pin of the damper in the over-run mechanism. Other than that, it is easy to do yourself. The only other point is that there are different diameter shafts to fit it to. Alko do a fitting kit which has spacers to account for that.
