Managed to get one this afternoon the old fashioned way.

Phoning up a few shops. They had one at Stewart Longton in Chorley.

Connected it up, re-tuned the TV and viola.
Full set of freeview TV and radio channels :)

So it sounds like that was the problem all along then, the 'Orange' logo power pack wasn't compatible with the 'Purple' logo antenna. Well at least what I read then turned out to be right after all. Anyway.....great result.
