Bottom line its a choice and no one is forced to buy it. As above you can buy your own dongle or use free wifi in towns.
If you use club sites regularly seems a reasonable deal for a years supply
As for France, we haven't stayed on any sites where its been free and reception has usually been patchy at best

The ACSI sites which we use extensively in France have usually got wifi. The guide book informs whether at a point or 80% coverage etc.
There are loads of sites with wifi and booster aerials or senders. More and more sites are adding the facility due to demand.
I suppose we shouldn't be too hard on the CC - after all it's only recently they got a website!

Looks like a good offering, but if everyone else thinks so too, you will be sat onsite with no bandwidth. Many of the sites have a poor coverage anyway, say upto 6-8mb broadband max, 10 people sharing that would be a little over 1/2 mb, ok, still ok for email but even browsing many sites these days would be a struggle! As someone else said, streaming media would be a no ...please wait, buffering... No!

We have Freephon via BT and use a signal booster such as this
signal booster
We have found that it is usually sufficient to reach "bar areas" when that is the case and other free phone outlets in and around the site.
For example, using the booster at Amboise it was possible to pick up a cafe in the town with free wifi, rather than use the site's own facility of €2 for 15 minutes.
And in the Pyrennees at Estaing it is easy to pick up the local free Mairie site rather than pay the Pyrennees Natura feesPost last edited on 01/01/2014 09:03:23

We have the same alfa booster with an external antenna if needed and also another alfa device to split the internet to different devices.
