Wow...Was toying with the idea of buying the Xplore 574 ! but doing a little research, has put us right off. Think we will give this make a miss atm. Bailey also have their problems i see. Haven't looked into Swift yet though. The Adrias look to have quite a few happy owners, (if we can learn to put up with the side bathroom arrangement.) Very difficult to know which make to opt for, as all seem to have their problems...

You are making the correct choice by staying clear of Elddis Stevo ( in my opinion) we have the 2013 Avante 540. Biggest load of junk ever. We have had the aerial, heating, cracked panel, light fittings, switches, grill, leg / stay,tv bracket, toilet cassette and now floor all broken or cracked. O I missed wardrobe door breaking. They have no quality control whatsoever. They have simply concentrated on quantity over quality.
They have as far as I am concerned conned me out of £17000 of my wife's and mine hard earned money. They know that the SOGA law states that they have the right to a repair, and that's what happens. Doesn't matter you are without your van constantly or the inconvenience and cost ,transferring back and forwards to the dealer.
And that's what I think will and I hope will be there eventual downfall. Dealers will get fed up in the end with all the grieve, time, and money they are having ,having to put up with all the back lash from them being at the front line of selling these pieces of junk. Hopefully it will effect sales and then someone in there company might take notice. But I would doubt it knowing the arrogance and lack of respect Elddis gives to its customers.

Really sorry to hear about your van ! Sounds like a real nightmare. My heart goes out to you. 17k takes a long long time to save, and then to be completly messed around makes my blood boil, let alone what you guys are going through. It is with small consolation that at least your plight is recorded,(along with other Elddis & Bailey ownners) so people can make informed choices, and avoid this viscious circle. I have been scouring various forums today in view of buying a half decent caravan make, and it seems the only ones that seem to have fewer faults, are non UK manufactured. Will call in to Venture caravans tommorow and check out the Adria's as these seem to have the most happy ownwers i can find to date.(no doubt there will be the minority of unhappy ownwers, but you have to start somewhere right ?) Also Venture seem to have a good rep.
Thanks for your heads up, and hope things turn out for you, with some justice.

Thanks Stevo, we would go for Adria as well if we ever get in a fortunate position to purchase new again. We looked at one last year at the NEC and looked very good, sadly we would of lost to much on a trade in. To be honest,we our thinking of packing it in all together. We have totally lost faith in the caravan industry on the whole. It's the second time now we have had our fingers burnt buying caravans and we thought by buying new we would have limited any major trouble. How very very wrong were we.

I personally feel the industry have it stitched up completely, and can build such poor quality vans knowing they can get away with it. The so called watchdogs of the industry get financial payments from them and are petrified to show or voice there disdain to any of them ,even though they know these poor quality vans are being built time and time again.

In the 17 months we have owned our van, every time we have used it ,something has gone wrong. The last three times we have had water pump ,aerial, wardrobe door falling off and hitting a family member on the head ,grill failing and tv bracket falling off. Then the waste under the sink popped off and flooded the van and tripped the electrics as it had got into the fridge electrics, and just recently the floor has started to fail. It is booked to go in in September for a lot of faults to be fixed again.

Good luck with your new purchase, but if you do get a Adria long may you have many a happy time in it. Cheers Scoobz.
