It is a bit odd I guess but some dealers ( as we too have been to a few recently) will pdi, valet and put right any problems etc with the caravan after you agree to buy, they like you to see the can, warts n all, then when you pick it up, they present you with something you can be proud of, whilst I can see some sense in this, it doesnt half put you off parting with your hard earned savings. Private sellers can be just as bad though, saying vans have no damp, spongey walls and floors, only to find when you have driven for an hour and a half to find all three lol. We have now settled for a private van, hopefully picking it up this weekend.
I have bought two second hand vans from Stewart Longton caravans Chorley and never had a problem if any that has not been sorted out even reimbursed for fuel on taking one van back for tow hitch problem.
But there again I must have walked away from at least a dozen private sales were gushing owners try to tell you how it has been looked after and mollycoddled.
when one look tells you it is more battered than the infant school Wendy house. you can smell the damp before they open the door they look like a car where all the springs have collapsed.
I looked at one private van it was bulled up to death looked the bees knees till I looked at the tyres they were 8 year old been polished with tyre black look at the tread on them hardly worn.
Turns out the van had sat in their front drive for about 5 years most probably both tyres would have blown if I had towed it on the road and the hand brake was seized.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
