I look at the van in the rear view interior mirror while getting bored on the motorway. That way I get fixed in my mind what the van looks like in the correct position. Only takes a glance now and then.
Then when hitching up reverse straight looking in side mirrors to line up then look in interior mirror until it looks the same. Just before quickly get out and check height of hitch and distance then reverse with door open to get it spot on.
That's it done.
I did that even when I had a mover as it was so much easier.

Well ... yes, and no.
For me, the mover is engaged to move the van off the pitch (primarily), and then to continue the process to hitch up .... so all the activity to get it going, was going to be necessary anyway, on the majority of pitches we use.
