We've just bought our first caravan in 15 years and it too is a sterling europa. It's a 2003 model but only 4 berth. We bought it from a Goodalls in Huddersfield who only sell second hand models - they buy vans in (depending on where your friend lives) but not sure how much they will offer. Our Van came with a starter pack, porch awning, alko-stabilizer, breathable groundsheet and 12 months warranty and we paid £8000 - we think we got a good deal - the warranty clinched it for us - we wanted the after sales service which we wouldn't have got if we had bought private. Before we bought the van, we checked on the website www.caravanpriceguide.com to see how the prices compared and to see if we were getting a fair deal.
If your new van was £12000 pounds as soon as you drive off the forecourt you loose the v.a.t (in this case £1788) you will then lose 10% of its value (£1021) when you reached 12months old you would then lose another 10% (£919) so your value to sell would be £8272. To resell the dealer would probably sell it at £9500, so to sell privately I would ask somewhere between the two.

Still for sale at the moment the dealer did the dirty on him told him one price badgered him all week so he took it up to them then they dropped the price so he has brought it back to storage.
