Congratulations on your new van! Our friends are getting the same one delivered after Christmas, its a very popular layout, although we prefer a back bedroom for the kids to play in.
I use salt (and trying kitty litter this year too) because its stored on-site, but if it could fit on my drive (it doesn't), i'd stick a dehumidifyer in it from time to time, but I reckon just being able to open it up and give it a regular airing must be a Godsend.
Personally not sure about covers, our dealer reckoned they were over-rated, but each to their own. I do know that a LOT of people recommend Old Mr Fenwick's Over-Winter stuff. You put it on after cleaning the van -you need 2 hours for it to dry - then just wash it off in the spring (using his cleaner, I think). Apparently it stops all the dirt and stuff sticking to it, that makes it go green. I bought his Bobby-Dazzler the other day - cleans my house-windows a treat, it came well recommended.
Where can I get Old Mr Fenwicks stuff then ?? Sounds pretty good, but I think I'll still use a cover as there are so many trees in our road.... The van is literally covered already !!!!
If you want testament to them, do a search, Old Mr Fenwick (OMF is his user name) is always about to answer questions, and there are LOADS of threads with the name in, enthusing about different products.
Hmmmm, maybe I'd use one with loads of trees too! I considered one for half a nanosecond when buying our new van in October, but my dealer looked at me with a "You're having a laugh, ain't you???" look, because the van is 26' and it would be a fantastic feat to get it on, and back off again!!
Mmmm, just had the quote through for a cover ( not naming the company ) but they want £360.........All well and good if you've spent £10K + on a van but I just cant warrent spending that amount of money at the moment on a cover ...Looks like Old Mr Fenwick it is then
Hunnnnyyyy, roll your sleeves up we've got work to do !!!!!!
Congratulations, you must be 'over the moon'. We are picking up our new Bailey Ranger 460/4 (fixed bed) next week, very, very excited. Still miss my little 16 year old Elddis Whirlwind though, but hey, onwards and upwards, and no more pulling out the slats to make the bed, we can't wait! Happy caravanning!!!
Congratulations on your new van TraceJ, I'm sure you'll be very happy in it. I'd love a fixed bed but a room for the kids comes first at the moment - maybe in about 10 years time!
Isn't it woeful how you miss your old van - I was moaning in October that ours smelled too New, and I liked the mustiness of our old 1990 Swift. It was Lived-In (to say the least!). OH thinks I've lost the plot, but I get very attached to inanimate objects - I have yet to move from our first house thankfully!
