The only reliable way to torque wheel nuts acurately is to retest every mile for the first few miles anyway as the wheel exerts stresses on the studs during cornering which can effect the torque. I agree with the earlier post that the FT setting works without fail. Most wheel stud are metric and you would really need to get them incredibly F.T to strip the thread on a 10mm metric high tensile wheel nut / bolt. Older unf threads did strip relatively easily. If you do strip the thread then I suspect it was badly worn anyway as it should be easier to snap the bolt than to strip the thread. If you snap the bolt then it was due for changing anyway due to metal fatigue.
