You try putting the oven on too when you arrive on site, and leave door open as well as usual heat source. Wendy

Don't do this, it's asking for carbon monoxide poisoning. The oven is not intended for use as a heat source as it has no flue like a purpose built heater. The heater draws cold air in from outside and expels the gasses through the floor or on earlier models the side wall. The oven takes air from the caravan and puts its exhaust gasses and a lot of moisture back into the caravan.

So the four gas rings on the cooker are dangerous too? They have no flue!!!

You're not going to die from carbon dioxide poisoning from having the oven door open for 10 minutes while heating up the van. If that was the gas there'd be a lot of dead caravaners!! I wasn't suggesting it was left on all night!!

Wendy

I have done it myself, Wendy. just concerned that someone might come along and read your post out of context. I have been known to use matchsticks to hold wires in a 240 volt socket, but it's not something I would ever suggest anyone else did. It's a bit like driving a car with bald tyres; the chances are you won't have an accident, but nonetheless, the chances of an accident are a lot higher than if you don't take the chance.

guys I love you//////  let me think.....arrive on site, plug heaters in,..... light oven, light gas rings. enter daughter on nintendo - eyes glued to it!... doesn't see oven door open, falls, cat jumping about as hungry and jumps onto cooker. daughter chasing around van after cat, mmmmm not sure if social services would not lock me up???

Thanks - I think we will just make sure that she wraps up warm, and I will try and heat van up before I go....

merry christmas
