Hi all, thanks for all the replies, still not decided on joining a club but if we did we could always try the cl or cs sites if they had EHU & they don’t mind kids, would be nice not to be packed in like sardines, we’ve been campers for many years so we do know site etiquette, wouldn’t want to spoil someone’s holiday with our 3 year old laughing & playing as 3 year olds do, my better half has been looking at all the sites from scarborough to bridlinton she’s found some lovely sites, we are thinking of going in june mid season so we can stay longer, thanks again,

from what I have experienced the CC are dear and offer very little. but they have a lot of sites and a back up system for other matters. but if you do the home work there are many places that are at a honest rate. £20 per night is the norm but when they start charging for dog. each child. awning.visitor. etc etc etc they are getting silly. its only a patch of grass not hotel with full facilities they are offering. one price quoted was £38 a night for caravan, myself, children, and one (trained and allways on lead) dog. no pool or view etc etc

I find many good clean quiet sites for under £20 and even more for under £30 a night. that are as good or even better than the big sites. and more relaxing. it depends on what you seek.

last year in Dorset we stayed at the usual site nr Ilminster at £15 for the pitch with hook up. went out for the day and saw the bigger sites nearer to the coast with a sea of tents caravans etc etc all crammed into the fields. I stopped and asked the children what they thought the showers and toilets must be like and they agreed lets stay away inland at our sites, and drive to the beach rather than stay so near and cramped. this year its going to be worst as the recession is hitting harder and that will result in more seeking the escape away on a budget.

but as I have said before time spent searching on this and other sites can pay back the effort put in. fail to plan and plan to fail
