Glad you're back on the road, Fife-bloke.

A neighbour of ours with a 2.2 Vectra had the same thing happen to his. He doesn't tow anything and drives very gently and slowly, which says something about the weakness of the skinny little chain on a biggish engine like that, in my OH's opinion.  OH repaired it for him for £1100, but it was a pig of a job which made him nervous and tricky to live with for a few days.  Hope your mechanic was more cheerful!
