Fantastic memory of a thunderstorm was at CC site near Whitley Bay (I think), site is located on a cliff top next to the sea. Lunchtime bbq, mum and dad had joined us for a day, saw clouds gathering so went in to awning. Wow what a storm: thunder and lightening just off the coast, although lightening did strike the top of the cliff about 50 yards from where we were sat - amazing. Unfortunately my mates awning pooled water and colapsed under the weight (he must have had a slight sag in the roof, but happended so quickly).
Same mate says his brother has been struck by lightening - twice. They call him Sparky for some reason.

Last year at La Palmyre, France we had the most amazing storm - started at 2am and carried on until lunchtime! So powerful at times it felt like it was lifting the van off the ground. The lightening so frequent i could nearly read my book in bed by it!
Well compared to some of your storm experiences, my storm pales into nothing, we are home now, un fried lol , but last night it rained soooo hard that it woke me up bashing on the van roof, And believe me nothing does normally, so I got up to use the loo, and it sounded like I was getting a round of applause!!!
