In the lead up to us purchasing our van...we nearly got caught up in a scam...one of those ' I cant beleive it' price scenenarios. ..on gumtree ..Ireported it and it was taken off...eventually finding our van off a private buyer ...even got suspicious about veiwing it where it was stored but left a deposit in cash and paid blance at time of collection by bank transfer..I asked many questions and would get suspicious of anyone who wouldnt answer my questions...a genuine seller would do everything to sell..there are some honest sellers ...just need to find them ...thats the problem

But in Alysson's case, the seller is a dealer pretending to be a private seller, which is simply illegal. Dealers are legally required to clearly state that they are dealers, and to accept that there are legal consequences should they misrepresent what they are selling. Therefore they should be reported to eBay - and CAB would be best placed to advise you further, Alysson.

Any of that is a waste of time, including CAB, google is quicker for the same info. If anybody wants to buy & sell caravans they can do it, before any action is taken they will have to have an awful lot of complaints against them & then it won't stop them. If people buy from them they will sell to them, these sort of people have no shame or conscience.

Buying an old caravan is simply buyer beware, ignore anything seller tells you & believe only what you see. What you need to look at requires some knowledge which can be gained from forums like ukcs.
