1twen1 - I think things must have changed a little as I've just randomly looked at several caravan Classified Ads and they're all in Mobile/Touring Caravans.
i would never buy off classified again there is no security when you are buying. i bought a trophy leisure caravan it looked nice and clean and in really good condition it stated 1996 i register it and it was 1994, it states there is no damp it is full of it also electric's and water does not work i tried to get in contact with the person who i bought it off but they did not return my emails or phone calls even though i told them i had 2 young children with me with no water or electric, i am new to touring and was thinking of giving it up after this horrible experience but i decided to trade it in for a newer caravan which i pick up on thursday cant wait, that was the only way i could of sold my van and get my money back, i would of felt guilty selling it to someone else as it was that bad.now am
There's no difference between classified ads on eBay and ads in your local paper. Shame you had a bad experience with buying your first van. If you did'nt know anything about caravans, you really should have taken someone with you who did. I would expect to be shown all appliances working so I knew they were ok and I also would have taken a damp meter.
yes i know now to take someone with me, but i think i would go to a dealer from now on were you are getting a warrinty on the van .and get replys from your phone calls when you need help on using the caravan for the first time lol.
