I was at a bit of a loose end the other night so i sat with my calculator converting watts to amps, i have since printed the results off & intend keeping them with the camping gear so that i know exactly how much power i am using off the hook up.

The results are based on a uk supply rated at 230 volts

Thanks for this info.

     We have just bought an electric two ring hob to use in the van and as continental sites often only have 5 amps we wondered if it would work without constantly tripping out.

What you need to do is look for what power (watts) its producing. You'll find this on its specification label. (don't forget if it says Kw thats times by a 1000).Divide this figure by the site voltage (220-230v). The resulting figure is the amps its drawing.

No tables needed folks....

Amps  Volts

Cover up the one you dont know, say wattage then you have amps x volts, for an unknown ampage, cover it up and you have watts over (divided by) volts. Works regardless of voltage, ac or dc
