I aint got one but had a good look around one only today. My opinion is that this is one of the best baileys I have been in. I had a very good dealer salesman free look so I pulled it to shreds.
The layout is great, very airy - a great long lounge, with good size bunks. The fixed DB at the back is nice, I am 6ft 2in and I would JUST get into it - the adria we also looked at with a similar layout had a longer bed.
Other than that I cant fault it - for a twin axle it only weighed in loaded up about 1300kg I think so it isnt bad at all. What I lurved, was under the fixed DB is a kind of plastic tray, with a plug hole so you can put wet clothes and boots on it. Great idea and it can be accessed from the outside locker so it was very good indeed.
Seems very well built for a bailey, nice kitchen space, loads and loads of storage - nice colour scheme with bright colours. A nice touch is the overhead locker with turntable so you can turn your tv around and watch it in bed or in the lounge - we have that in our cristall and its great as it can be locked away completely or either side so you can retire to the other end of the van without disturbing anyone - also prevents your tv taking up table space. If you have kids I cant see a better van for layout. The wetroom was tight but thats the norm for twin 6 berths.. but still a lovely shower room and loo.
You can close off the double bed with a fabric concertina thingy which we have in our german girl. There is the usual curtain for the bunks which has a nice press stud fastening so you can lock the kids out behind the curtain - which they will no doubt love.
Again the lounge is very large and has both pull out occasional table and a fold away table too for family meals. The table even has its own cupboard. The double bed at front has the locker in the middle and has pull out slats for the base which looked easy to set up.
For £12k I dont think there is better value brand new. I think they have a 5yr ingress warranty.. so what you waiting for? Go and get one!!
No seriously - I am a foreign van nut, but this is the first UK van me and the wife have ever considered buying.. and that is hard with us...
The only thing I have never liked about baileys it the exterior front end - but thats me being fussy. Hope this has helped....
We looked at one of these recently, was just driving past the dealers honest!! It's a fab van for the money, the only reason we wouldn't swap is that we wanted to be able to put the kids to bed and stay up in the living area. In this van our kids would sleep in the living area so it wouldn't work. Having said that it's a possible van for our future.
Shami. our 550/6 was amazing we bought new last april and upgraded to the new 620/6 this april. The 550/6 is a versitile and light weight. it towed very easily and accomodated the 5 of us without any hassles, even we had friends with us we catered for 11 in the awning.
We love ours too, the 2 kids sleep on the fixed bunks which are plenty big enough and we have accommodated 2 others - 1 an adult - on the dinette bunks. The double is so easy to make up and very comfy. We usually camp just the 4 of us but about 3 or 4 times a year it's 6 of us. Plenty of room the wardrobe is brilliant (after being in a tent) and there's so much storage I've never managed to fill it yet! Altogether a very nice van for the money, lightweight and tows great so the oh says!
We've just got one and collect it soon. Am so excited, like a kid at Christmas. Can't wait, feel I should have created an advent calendar to the collection date. Great to hear such positive comments on the old and new models alike.
Yes we got ours last thursday. Sat on driveway and all ready to be used, first camp will at whitsun. One thing you will find the limited choice of awnings, being a 1088 you are in the mega buck range.
When we loaded our van, everything neatly stacked under the back bed, an amazing design plan.
Im sooo jealous, we fell in love with the Bailey, fixed bed, side dinette and full size front lounge,a proper store for the table, no fighting it in and out of the wardrobe, sounds like heaven to me. Went as far as advertising ours and saving up the difference , then reality struck and have decided to keep our Ace and use the money to landscape the front garden, how boring is that.....I haven't given up my dream though, I will have that van one day (soon???)
We looked at the Adria, and yes the inside is a little flasher than the bailey, but for a family van didnt think it would stand up as well. Also its the way the Adria looks ouitside! too continental for me, I love the bailey panoramic front windows. Although if we all liked the same there wouldn't be any choice out there.
We cam within a whisker of buying a brand new bailey ranger 550/6, loved the fixed bunks, but in the end we chose a two year old Pageant Auvergene, 250.00 less and we alos felt it was more confortable, less basic and a few more toys!
