We have our van on a seasonal pitch with only 5 amps electric so every time you turn something on it trips.   Has anyone used the power inverters from their leisure battery before and was it any use.

I am not familiar with using inverters but, where electricity is concerned, you do not get something for nothing.  For example, running an appliance of 1200 watts at 240 v.a.c. will pull 5 amps.  Running it through an inverter at 12 volts could result in a load of 100 amps on your battery.

I would recommend you find the e-mail address for an inverter manufacturer and ask their customer services for some advice on battery drain in relation to the wattage of 240 volt appliances.

If the EHU for your pitch has a capacity of only 5 amps (the standard MCB is 6 amps), this is very low. Most private sites have at least 10 amp hook ups, and the clubs are usually 16 amps.  I would ask the site owner why the capacity is so low.

Bertie.
