Don't know if trims is the right word but the black seal/trim around the windows and door on our 1998 Abbey GTS 417 Vogue are all looking tired and could do with darkening down to black again (currently gray) what is the best product to use?? or are you supposed to leave them alone.

Thanks in advance

Tess x

Tess

Back to Black will only do the job for a short period of time and its probably everyones dream aerosol detailing item.  Truth is the car detailing pro's won't and don't touch this with a bardge pole, neither will i and have not done so for years as its a very temp finish and no where near what you get from pro products.

For black rubber or plastics use this method and you wont be disapointed:

1) Clean using a de-greaser - below

2) Spray on and wipe off, the longer you leave the shinnier finish you get - below

It will fade over time as will any product, but will work far better and last longer than Back to Black.  You can buy from http://www.ccs-inc.co.uk

Have you ever thought that the trim is supposed to be grey?

mudlark . do you thave a link as to where i can get that trim you have pictured . thanks .

i have a 1995 abi . the trim has all faded  the horizontal trim right along the side of the van was an easy fix . just pulled it out and turned it upside down . as it was only the top half that had faded (cheap skate) i know

but the trim round the door etc really needs replaced. and would make my van look so much nicer . its burgandy trim.

Hi Tess, welcome,if its the rubber surrounds you are on about, I do mine inside and out with an Auto Glym product which is for tyre and rubber(can't remember the exact description), makes them look like new.

Anyone looking for the plastic trim in Central Scotland, should visit Outriggers in Dunfermline, I've just ordered a 50m roll for £15!!  plenty to do the entire van.
