Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would post a few words to say hello.  We have just purchased our first van.  We have a 2003 Streling Eccles Moonstone, which we will be towing with a Mondeo Ghia 2 ltr 130bhp TDCI.  I realise that if we maxed the caravan out we would be at an outfit match of around 94%.  We will try to keep that down as much as possible an drive very carefully.  My dad had been a caravaner for years and will follow me for our first few trips to make sure we are doing everything right.  He will also teach me to load it carefully.

I've enjoyed reading this board over the past few weeks, and now I have a van I can join in.

We have converted form tenters.

Mark

Welcome Mark , this is a fantastic site and very very friendly. You can ask almost any question and I expect you would get an answer so do'nt be afraid to ask , however trivial you make think it may be . We have all had to start from somewhere .

(and I bet you made a nice cup of tea in it as soon as you got it home  )

Best wishes

Steve

Welcome to UKCS

Just remember you are on holiday and relax and do things more slowly with the van on the back.

Driving with the van on the back will increase fuel consumption considerably and this is made worse the faster you go.

Try not to accellerate/overtake fast  dowhill or the van could get to the bottom before you

We recently changed 'van and went from a 85%~ to a 95% match. It has made a fair impact on the driveability in that the outfit doesn't accelerate as well as it used to.

However it still tows well. just a little slower.

We are going on our first trip on Friday to Brean Somerset can't wait, It's got to be easer than trying to put up a ten man tent with two children running about very stressfull. Any way good luck and enjoy. Cheers.
