Sorry can't help regarding the A30 - but if you can find out who runs the gas stations and give one of them a call, they might allow an overnight stop en route, we usually stay around junction 29 on the M5, you have to pay a smal fee (about £4.00) I think.

we're off to Newquay in August and to break the journey we are planning to stop off about halfway and stay the night at a C&CC rally which are usually only £5 or £6 a night. It could be something to think about if you're already a member
