Has anyone tried to wash their inner tent for an Isabella awning (or any other awaning I suppose :0)
I suppose it is 80% fabric and 20% plastic at the base. It is so musty and speckled with mould I just wondered if I could wash it in the washing machine - any advice???
dunk it in the bath in a milton solution before washing to get rid of the mould then wash with soap flakes, not normal washing powder as the stuff in it upsets the canvas and causes leaks.

I washed an Isabella inner tent! I can't actually remember if I hand-washed it in the bath or the the machine, but I do know that used Lux soap flakes (not detergent) to avoid removing the 'proofing' from the cotton fabric.
I was disappointed with the results though. After waiting patiently for it to dry on the line, I observed that the staining which I had hoped to remove didn't really come out.
I think the staining was water/condensation - I bought the inner compartment second hand. I might have another go in the machine with biological detergent one day, but for the time being I'm leaving it as it is.
- Oh and it creased badly in the wash, so I ironed it too!
I washed the inner tents from a folding camper in the machine, on a gentle wash and they came out okay. Bit crinkled, but thats all ( I dont iron....). They didnt have the plastic bottom bit though. I dont see why you shouldnt wash the inner tent in the bath, but I suppose the plastic bit will hold the water and flood the place when you bring it out!!
I've washed them in the machine before on non fast colours wash with usual detergent and they come out smelling lovely. creases soon come out on the line.
I washed ours in the washing machine,it made it smell fresh and loked 100% better, as far as I know it was never waterproof anyway so nothing was spoilt.
Thank you for all your replies - I think I will try a combination - soaking it in Milton and then wash it in the machine. Fingers crossed it survives - my son wants to sleep in it for our whitsun week away.
