Advice needed!

The balck wire that attches fromn the van to the car dragged on the floor and tore through two of the inner wires, rendering bthe lights and right hand side indicators useless.  Whats the cheapest and easiest way to fix this?

The cheapest way is to do it yourself, but obviously only if you are competent. It really is quite simple. You should be able to buy the cable somewhere locally. I personally would not try to repair the existing cale as if you get water in the cores will short which could cause damage to your car electrics.

Would the wire still reach the socket if it was shortened?

If so:

• Disconnect the leisure battery
• Make a diagram of the existing plug connections
• Remove the plug
• Shorten the wire
• Replace the plug

If the wire won't shorten, follow it back to the junction box and replace the whole length, Maplins do it HERE . Make sure you make a diagram first.

To protect our cables from being a nuisance, we use a length of that cable tidy stuff - plastic tube with curved 'teeth' all along it. 

You literally zip up your black/grey cables with it, leaving just the plug ends exposed.  Seems to keep the cables tidy when the van is parked up and helps stop excess cable dangling on the ground too.

- Okay, so it wasn't exactly our idea.  We saw it on another van in our storage and pinched the idea.  You only need a little bit, so you can use the rest to tidy up the nest of cables behind your TV or PC!

Lots of places sell it - office stationers, TV & audio shops, PC shops etc,.

Works a treat though!
