Hi,
I have bought a second hand van with no hot water...whats the best (easiest and cheapest) way of getting hot water in the van without boiling a kettle (p.s. can I use a std kettle from home once on hook up?)! It would be great if it only worked once on electric hookup on sites if that helps or just off gas as a possibility ? Def dont want it to use any 12v battery options as having trouble with that in other areas.
Any advice would be great...!
Many thanks, Andy

This is going to depend on how deep your pockets are and how good at DIY .
CAK TANKS do an 240volt Electric boiler but you will need pipe work and taps also submersible pump to keep a constant supply of water to the boiler.
as for the standard Kettle you may get away with using it depending on the site supply AMPERAGE and the wattage of the kettle.

The hot water systems can be expensive, may not be economical to fit one in your van unless you can get a 2nd hand one.
Water heating is by gas or mains electric, or both. But never 12volt. You will need 12v to ignite a gas system.

My van is cold water only too (as is my folding camper) I looked into fitting a heater but decided it really wasn't worth it.
I use a standard domestic kettle & providing it's not on at the same time as the microwave haven't had any problems with tripping out.

The only reasonably priced new heater is a mains only 5 litre Truma 'truma-therm' also easy to fit.
Loads of second hand Carver Cascade 2's on ebay, but judging by phone calls from some people who have bought them, often you need to spend again to get them working.
