Ok new to having a caravan have done a search on essential items and not found what i was looking for like essential tools i have a couple items i have come up with and wondered if there was anymore that i am missing,i do have the ones like mallet for awning pegs etc what was trying to get together is a basic tool set for the odd thing that can happen. As i said new to a caravan and have no idea odd the odd annoying things that can happen , and over the years i expect the more seasoned caravaners have got a small tool kit together by now.
My items so far
1) large bladed screwdriver (for removing plug to drain hot tank)
2) stanley knife (cutting replacement hoses and such llike)
well i now have a list of a few things to get ,there are a few things i would never hd thought of there ..does it ever end all the bits you have to buy lol
I bought a small tool case/wallet (A5size) from halfords and it contains quite a few of the tools and bits and pieces that Biosdoctor lists and you can always add fuses etc to it later. I think it was about £10 and isn't too heavy or bulky, just right for the caravan. I've used it quiet a few times as there is always something that needs adjusting...in my van anyway
On the long trip we've got coming up i'm taking everything Biosdoctor has listed plus
A few meters of electric single core wire .
Small selection of electrical connectors .
Throw away gloves .
Small socket set .
Mole grips .
Single axle stand ( heavy duty ) .
Tyre weld .
High visability vest .
Trolley jack .
Araldite .
Chemical metal .
Narrow nose pliers .
Can of wd40 .
Tow rope .
Warning triangle .
1kg fire extingusher .
First aid kit .
Foot pump .
Multi-meter .
Magnitic pick-up tool .
A few rags .
Small windup torch .
I think that's about it , as you can probably see i have most things covered ( i hope ) i do like to be able to cope with most things that may come my way when we travel .
I usually simply take a couple of screwdrivers and pliers. Chances are whatever else you need will be the one thing you forgot anyway!
Really it depends on your vans condition, even a new one you may need a few items, but experience of what goes wrong will show you what you need.
With all the stuff that some of you take, how do you have room for the important stuff like Wife's wardrobe (she tells me that she has to take everything in case) and satellite TV.
