we've stuck to caravan club as we're not sure of c&cc rule regarding ball games. We've been to a few commercial sites where our van has seemed to be in the middle of a rugby or football match. Which is fine when you're in a tent as we used to be, but having spent so much on the van, we don't want it to be damaged by stray balls. Let me know if they're not allowed to play ball games, but i've looked on their site and can't find any info.
We joined both but we're staying with the C&CC and not renewing the CC.
I think it's really a matter of weighing up what you're going to get out of the club. If you go abroad and find they're cheaper for ferry crossings, or if you find their insurances etc. are cheaper, then that's fine. The CLs and CSs are handy, as has been said, but, as far as their own sites go, the CC is more expensive. We're over 55 so we get the age concession with the C&CC which makes a big difference because we go mid season, i.e. out of school holidays.
The CC magazine is better but then I've found that half of what's in there is also in Practical Caravan!
Regarding ball games, Jane, have you tried phoning them to ask? We've never had a problem on any of the club sites - or, to be honest, on any site.
CC for me every time. I am a member of both and feel the C&CC don't even come close. The sites are better, the mag is miles better and the organisation is better both on sites and HQ (i'e' responding to e mails)
Join Both, There are plus and minuses to both but for just over £30 a year each its well worth it! We use both Caravan Club and C & CC sites and are always pleased. There is normally one or another in a certain area!

Hi all
I am a new member to this site & a new tourer, although have been tenting for a while now.
Want to join one of the clubs for caravans but not sure which one is best. Would really appreciate any advice?
The Caravan Club.........or......The Camping & Caravanning Club?
This question gets asked at least once a month. The only real answer is join BOTH for a year (or two). Don't be a skinflint - spend the money. At the end of a year YOU will be in a better position to judge which club suits best YOUR type of touring and what YOU want from a club.
Everyone will have an opinion - but that is their opinion and what suits them might not suit you.
Whatever you do enjoy yourself.

Join both although in Scotland the C&CC don't have many heated toilet /shower blocks which can make showering early and late season very chilly.C&CC also don't have as many hardstands as CC essentail after the summer we've had! Both clubs have super sites in Scotland but C&CC don't have any open all year round.
The Caravan Club sites are better run/more suited to families where the children don`t feel the need to cycle round everyones unit particularly tents ie well behaved and the facilities are generally better, if you are over 55 use the Camping Club for its age concession, we are members of both but prefer the Caravan Club sites, however having just parted with a folding camper for a caravan we are now going to try 5 van sites from both clubs
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
