I would suggest that the vehicle will be underpowered for a van of this weight and probably the van will be too heavy.

I towed a 1163kg unladen van and the Freelander (TD4) was getting near its limits

We tow a Buccaneer Elan (1330 unladen) with a Mitsubishi Pajero.

No problems whatsoever.  Now that I've said that I'm sure to get problems.
