Thanks everyone

After the advice I will be going for the roof rack, but I'll think I'll leave till next year.

Thanks Again

Do be careful carrying the bikes on their own without the caravan, it is very easy to forget they are there!!!  Friends of ours drove into a carpark with an overhead barrier and you can guess what happened!!  Both bikes ripped off, rack was wrecked and car scratched, oh and almost a divorce as they blamed each other, 3yr old piped up in the back of the car 'Daddy you're a numpty!'

Please remember that any added wieght on the back of the car or the A-frame will affect stability if it takes the overall weight of the tow hitch above that of either the car or trailer. Normally the noseweight is 75kg on caravans and standard cars. You should weigh the bikes and carrier before attaching to the caravan and not drill holes in the caravan A-frame.

Best bet is the roof mounted racks. I have seeen one that works on a pulley system but cannot remember who made them. The central lock bar of the rack was lowered down the bike attached and then pulled up into place. It was then securd to the wheel rail. Will try and find out who made them unless someone beats me to it!
