After looking numerous times on ebay and to be honest after seeing the prices i might as well buy a brand new awning and also we have measured for the awning from the ground around the rail and back to ground again but after looking at towsure and other diagrams im not sure if we have done this right cos on the diagrams it looks like they are measuring round the outside of the caravan. our measurement was aprox 27ft which i converted to 822cm on my converter on my fone and not sure if i have done this right, any help on this matter will be greatfully received.

We got a full Isabella ambassador awning off eBay, with IXL poles around 5 years old for £450. A 1025 size too...if I were you I would keep looking on eBay for the bargains.

Dont forget the topic of awnings is very subjective and everyone recommends what they currently own.
bear in mind that quality is reflected in the price.
I would always look for a secondhand Isabella before considering a new inferior make !

not true,we have a dorema and love it,if changing i would buy another dorema.i can not see why one should pay secondhand prices when you can buy new with near the same money, also a five year warranty on nrawnings.

That would depend on how many nights exposure the awning is going to get over the year!------------- Click on My Homepage for Blog

Just bear in mind how little the use can be with a full awning.
Ours is about 14 months old now and we have used it for a total of 6 weeks over the 2 summer seasons.
I'm sure we are fairly typical caravanners and for each year of an awning's life, you can probably count 2-3 weeks use. Therefore, a top quality awning can be excellent value when bought second hand and it's age should really be determined by the use it has had and how carefully it has been looked after, not how many years old it is.
As mentioned on another thread, I recently saw a 30 year old Isabella in use and it looked like new!

gosh so many views on this subject and not sure what to do now, we usually go camping on a weekend and we are planning to go to europe next year. we go weekends because my other half works in the caravan industry (static) so he only gets time off during shut down which is during the school holidays. we need an awning really cos the van is 4 berth and if we take 3 kids and a dog with us there wont be enough room for all of us
