Hi Dave,

Yes there are but currently no British Vans do that layout. You will have to look at the European ranges such as Cristall, Knaus, Burstner,Adria & Hobby so a good place to look is at the International Caravan show at the NEC next month.

A lot of these vans do come in British spec & can be bought at UK dealers but be careful if you buy second hand privately as sellers will try & con you that the extra wide European vans can be towed legally in the UK with a normal car & they can't.

Max legal width is 7.3 metres wide to tow with a normal car & a lot of Europeans are 7.5 wide as its ok to tow them there with a car but we would have to have a Commercial vehicle over 3.5ton to tow here so please don't get conned into parting with your cash on a van you can't tow legally here.

Don't get me wrong I love European vans, we have a new Burstner fixed double & fixed bunk 5/6 berth on a single axle with cooker & all the usual UK refinements but be aware of the differences in the British & Europeans before you buy.

Ps door is on other side too!

Good luck in your hunt.

Greetings,

I think Petrolhead is confusing his metres with feet and inches.

The Max width of a caravan towed by a vehicle reg in Uk that weighs less than 3.5 tonnes is 2.3 mts. On the continent they are made up to 2.5mts and those are the ones to avoid.

Whoops !

Thanks for the correction emmitdb I know what I meant to put but was sidetracked by the little ones.

Our van is 2.3 wide & you are quite right the European ones are 2.5.

Obviously a blonde girly moment as my Husband would say!

Sorry peeps x

Caz
