We bought a Hobby in May of this year and have been to 6 sites towing with a Ford Ranger (a four person cab with truck back) and have had no problems.  None of the sites asked what caravan when I booked and no-one batted an eyelid when we turned up.  They really are lovely vans and the build quality is excellent.  Insurance was no problem with The Caravan Club.

Just out of interest, what do you find the Ranger like to tow with as I have the same and collect my caravan soon, is yours the latest model or the one before?

have owned a 540uk since june 06 and been to more than 20 sites already all over the country and had no problems from any site, club or commercial. (More welcome than the kids on some sights!!!!)
As per what you have already read make sure it is no more than 230 wide to make it legal to tow with an ordinary car.
We are new to vanning and looked at a lot of vans before we saw the hobby and when we saw it for the first time it blew us away. Lovely decor and very solidly built and the uk was an ideal layout for us.
Insured with the caravan club but some companies i rang for quotes refused because it was a foreign van. Was worried about the report of it being a popular van to steal by a certain not politically correct to mention group so make sure you have good security.
