Just wondered if any of you are going to the C&CC Goose Fair (Nottingham) rally this weekend at Walesby? The annual Goose Fair started today in Nottingham & looks like another good show with plenty of new rides again.
About 1,500 units went last year to the rally and it was really good weekend so if anyone is going maybe we could meet up & say hi in the Beer Tent?
We will be dressed up as Robin Hoods & Maid Marion as we are in the Notts DA who organise & run this rally and collectively are going to try to beat the Guiness book of Records for the most Robin Hoods in one place!!
If you want to come have a look on our website www.nottsda.co.uk as it has been updated and says they are now taking booking on the gate! Anyone else interested is welcome but it is members only so sorry if you aren't in The Camping & Caravanning Club yet you won't be able to come this year.
This is a first for booking at the gaye but the web site can put you in touch with the commitee so hopefully you can come.
Let me know if you are , we are going Fri lunchtime after my son finishes nursery school and will let you know where we are so we can meet up.
Yes i'm going. We'll be aiming for a dawn departure and hope to be there by 9.30am,pitched up and in the "refreshments" tent for 11.Booked on newstead area.Your more likely to hear us before you see us.
Have a great weekend. I've actually got a pitch booked, but hubby is now away this weekend, and I've got a meeting on Friday afternoon and I've no idea what time it will finish - I'm not an experienced tower, so I'm afraid I've chickened out of the idea of the A1 on Friday night, in the dark, through the roadworks and I'll be staying at home.
Daisy - I would, but even if I finish work on time (which is doubtful, given the nature of the meeting tomorrow), there is no way we will be ready to set off before 6pm - we then have to collect the 'van from storage ('we' being me and Little Scamp) and weave our way across rush-hour Leeds on a Friday night to then begin a 2-hour (if the traffic is good - SERIOUSLY doubtful, given the roadworks!) slog down the A1. So, if we are lucky, we'll finally get to Walesby sometime around 9pm. Little Scamp doesn't like the Youth Area at the Goose Fair Meet (too noisy for her), so she's with me all weekend, so I can't go join my friends in the bar. And I don't do the Saturday evening show or go to the Goose Fair itself ..... so without hubby being with us, it really becomes a toil of a pleasure, so we are staying at home, Little Scamp's best friend is coming to stay and we are doing 'girly' things!!!
Why is it called the Goose fair? Can you shoot geese at this fair? At the moment we have a fridge full of geese that have been shot recently so will be digging out the recipe book soon. Last week we had crayfish on the Monday, rabbitt on the Tuesday and wood pigeon on the Thursday. The latter two having been shot the week previously. Nothing better than variety with your meals.
Hi there , we are off to goose fair as well cant wait !! im the one on the crutches !! (torn ligaments ) fell off friends caravan step 2 weekends ago....... wont stop me vanning though ... see you there . Diana
Hello everyone who has replied, we are on Dukeries Annex and have a Burstner van which will be flying a cow and Nemo from the flag pole if you are about our way. No comments on the Robin Hood outfits either please!
Maybe we could try a Ukcampsite meet up over the wkend? Any suggestions when & where?
