thought i had better start a new thread to tell everyone that today my mum and dad, have bought their first van at the ages of 75 and 62. They have bought an Abbey Archway special Edition from Goodalls nr Huddersfied. It is beautiful 2 birth with an enormous end bathroom, they are so excited and got a really good deal including the awning, aqua rolls alco stabiliser, hook up, infact everything but the pots and pans, i cannot believe that one visit to us in our caravan has snowballed into them joining us. My mum and Dad are avid cruising folk and have been all over the world in every cruise ship you could name so this is a complete shock! i am so pleased for them i can see family trips being arranged sometime in the near future.
------------- wishing everyone,,,,what you would wish for yourselves x
We bought our caravan from Goodalls, this time last year and we thought we got a really good deal. When is their first outing? We thought we wouldn't use ours until Spring but were too excited and decided we couldn't wait that long so immediately had a weekend in Skegness and then off to Goosewood at York, for bonfire night.
This year, we're giving Waterfront Country Park a try for bonfire night, at West Stockwith, which according to UKCS is in South Yorkshire ! Sounds like they are making an effore with a bonfire, 20 minute firework display and wine and hotdogs. Apparently the site has changed hands - has anybody been recently? Have read the reviews and they seem good.
Thats brilliant news. I am sure they will catch the bug very quickly. It happened the other way round for us. We are both over 70, have been caravanning for years and this year my daughter, son in law and grandson have bought an Abbey Vogue GTS We had a fabulous holiday together down in Devon. Best thing is to be with them but also have our own space.
Hiya Lorraine,
(i've just emailed you before i logged on here)
congrats to your Mum& Dad. I'm sure they;ll love it. You must have impressed them when they saw your set up that they've decided to join you!!!
Cockerspadges & sunburnden..... I've just looked on the website for waterford park, I think we may look into that too, my Mum& Dad own a boat thats moored at Lincoln, it looks easy enough for them to come to visit in it as it has a marina. So maybe we'll see you there??
What about you Lorraine? you & your parents could go too, it could be a small Barnsley meet!!! just to put us on til we can get to Greensprings.
That's really good news about your mum and dad, I hope they have lots of excellent trips ahead of them. We can't wait until we retire, and can go whenever we feel like it.
