Of course it is possible to get through Lancaster centre. Thousands do it every day without incident. What I was saying and still do, is not reccommend to do it the first time towing. Especially when you can take the M6, which is a good road even in bad weather. I have driven over the Lune bridge many times in bad weather and found it no problem.
However I must edit my typing on the previous post. The road to Windermere is of course the A591 and NOT the A595. Sorry if I confused you
