what about one of those "ready beds", he could sleep on the floor then

definitely get him in a bed at home as well then it wont be such a "shock"

I endorse what the others have said about working towards moving him into a bed at home but in the meantime, if space and circumstances permit you may like to try this: When our youngest was still in a cot he too wouldn't settle easily in a bunk. So I purchased a very cheap, basic cot from Ikea, the sort with wooden bars all the way round. The feet of this fitted very conveniently between the slats of the pulled-out rear bunk (with the cushions removed) with the bottom of the cot resting on the slats. It was very stable and secure and meant that the 'door' separating the bunks at the rear of the 'van could still be closed, making a sort of mini bedroom.

i too have a two year old but he has been put into a bed but at the age of one we used one of the small ikea cots in our van very light weight and we just keeped the alan key in the van if we needed to put it down! we then found the cot a pain in the day so got the smallest travel cot and put a nice thick blanket on the bottom for extra comfort gthis worked a treat and we could collaps it in the day and pop it out side!

as i have said hes now in a bed but only because he could clime out of his cot!
