My caravan needs a new bathroon window stay, and I am a little apprehensive about the replacement - I need some tips or words of encouragement!
The end attached to the window frame with two screws - yes fine, within my DIY ability! But the end attached to the double glazed window.....
How does it com off? It looks to me like they should aslide off, in an upwards direction, but gentle persuasion doesn't seem to move it.
Before I get more physical, I thought I would seek advice - does it just slide off - does it just need a bit of elbow grease and a quick lunk with a hammer?

My van is a 2004 Ace Jubilee Globetrotter is that matters at all....
I don't want to stand on Wizards toes but, if its this type, I had to do one of mine.
I had trouble removing it,so I drilled out the rivet from the pin ends (top stay LH side on the pic) and changed just the metal tube bit, re-rivet and it'll last for years.

when i removed all the front windows,the screws x 2 from inside went straight through the window and into the black plastic bit on the outside.take care not to lose the bits,have someone outside to catch them.

Paul good instructions there couldn't have done better me self , if you happen to repair a window stay again could you take some pics and do a write-up for me , i'd be happy to put it on my website so it can help others .
So, are we saying, that the end fixed to the window, does not just slide off!
Is it really impossible to get it off the - and the best options are to replace the broken bit of the stay with a new tube, and leave the window end there?
I've seen ad's for replacement window stays, and they seem to offer screw or slide types, mine looks like it is in two pieces, and has now screws showing, but as I said - it doesn't easily seem to want to move?????
the ones on our old bailey had a screw that went in at a Angle from underneath loosen it and the window stay slid up ,Look underneath can you see a Posi drive screw head or a small round plastic cap covering a screw .
If you look carefully, you will see a small hole in the bit that fixes to the window. Insert a small screwdriver(the type used to mend spectacles) and "push". This will release a spring loaded catch.The arm then slides of the mount.
Remember that the arms are "handed"...be sure to buy the correct one.

I was convinced these arms just slide off, but they didn't want to move, but I know there is a small hole in the base, which sounds like the relase that laurie is talking about!
Can't get to me van until the weekend, but I'll keep you posted.
