i am contemplating changing to propane this weekend as the old weather could be detrimental for butane.
question is- i have a propane regulator,( same as butane one, clip on to cylinder fitting)if i use propane, any problems with system possible?
i know different pressure regulator, but any diference in output on fridge, oven, water heater etc,our van is an old van,but i have replaced all gas pipes and the oven is newish.
we've always used propane so can't really comment butane except that previously we've been told that it burns hotter than butane. Not sure what you mean about clip on regulator as ours is a screw on one I think (hubbys department) but I'm sure someone will be along with more know how, blue face gone tho

As far as I am aware, butane and propane bottles have different fittings and are not interchangeable. The two gasses are supplied at different pressures.
Are you saying that you have been using a propane regulator on a butane bottle?

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
i stand corrected but from what i understand,if you have a bulkhead regulator fitted these have been re-calibrated and the fires and cookers have too.gary will know better than me.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Hi Swiftsure, be sure of the regulator you are using is FOR the right gas, also butane and propane tend to use different hoses due to the different pressures. Years ago' i was given an advice, red regulator/red bottle/red or orange hose. Blue regulator/blue gas bottle/black gas hose, i know nowdays things have gone forward a bit re. the hoses but i would still make double sure you use the right one.One of my friends almost burned his camper out due to not knowing what he was doing, and all because he changed gas over, without the proper regulator for it. Hope i have not been a pain in the a... re, the above but when it comes to gas one should always think safety first.
