We went to Slingsby north yorks, snow, wind and sunshine. We had a ride up to a place called sutton bank loads of snow loved it.
We were at Ravenglass, West Cumbria. Fantastic site. Cold, but the site is in a nice secluded spot surrounded by trees, so didn't get the full force of the chilly wind. We had a few snow flurries but nothing much really. It was nice and sunny most of the time but very cold!
Drove to Wastwater for the day, winner of ITV's "Britain's Favourite View". A site to behold, especially the snow on the mountain tops......Awesome sight!
Thats just down the road from us, we live at Egremont!! We were at Springlea Allonby, the weather was great it had a few flurries but didnt lay. There was 6 caravans of us went and we had a great laugh. Our friends lightweight awning poles bent in the wind though!!
------------- Jan:Braids Gretna, Feb Stanwix Park Silloth & Braids Gretna,
We was at the blue dolphin site, srrived easter monday and omg it was a mud bath, Tents clapsed all over the place freezing cold agrr horrible, woke up this morning to gale force winds, we couldnt even open the caravan door. This is the first time i have been glad to be back home after being away.
Went up to Glororum beside Bambourgh on the Thursday night completed the setting up found out I had not put the remote for theTV in,our Grandaughter was not amused and could not watch her DVD's, we then ran out of Gas so 9.0pm we went into Seahouses no Chippys open only local Co.op no hot food so ended up purchasing a new Microwave (OH said we needed a new one anyway?), Friday suffered very high winds ( no comments please) buffeted the Caravan all night along with Hailstones but on the Saturday had full English breccky then spent the day in Edinburgh we had a very good weekend apart from the Wind! and the snow was great, made the weekend, but we were all cosy and warm in our Tin tent
We went to Troutbeck up near Keswick for the easter break. Gale force winds on thursday evening made going over the A66 pass very slow, hail and snow showers on friday and saturday made going out interesting, then heavy snow on the saturday night into sunday morning was exciting, with an early call for a snowball fight easter morning! Slight problem getting out of the van as the little porch awning had sagged a bit with the weight of the snow, and a friend had to push the snow off for us so we could get out the door! The children in our group (and some of the big kids) had a whale of a time with about 8 inches of snow to make into snowmen and snow bunnies. In the van we were toasty warm, but some of the rufty tufty campers in little two men tents found the weather a bit bracing! The snow was still on the ground when we had to leave on monday, but all the main routes were clear.
Same here! Thursday to Monday also.
The wind was incredible on the Thursday night, I thought it was going to blow us over. It ripped and bent the tubes of the peoples awning 2 spaces away from us. I never put the handbrake on when we park up........I will in future after it went for a wander while sitting inside.
same here as well stayed near to Berrier in the lake district, arrived Good Friday the weather was quite calm, so i thought right we will put the awning up due to having the grandchildren, daughter and labrador, oh my i looked up and saw this massive black sky, we was then part way putting the awning up, then the snow along with the wind showed its face we was hanging on for dear life other vanners came to help bless them, eventually once the blizzard was over we finally got it erected, but was worried all over weekend thinking it was going to be blown away, then woke to 6in of snow easter sunday and other people brushing the snow of their awning roofs , never again was not worth the worry to gain the space.
We went to Fily for the easter weekend to try out our "new to us "campervan. Up till now we were tenters , it was great outside it was cold and snowy, inside it was warm and cosy. First ever campervan trip went well. Shame about all the power cuts though.
You must have been at Blue Dolphin? we had power cuts. Will never go away that early again.
Loved the new motor home but miss me tent. We had our tent flattend on the Thursday night and put it in the bin, unlike others that just went and left the rubbish.
Seaview at Berwick for 4 nights followed by 4 nights at Barnard Castle.
The Thursday night at Seaview was unbelievable, it felt like the van was going to blow over, a few people even moved there vans around at 3am to try to evade the wind, then the power cuts started!!!!. It was great though, this time last year we was in a tent LOL!!!!!!!!!!!.
