Hi Folks

Got our first tin tent at the end of last year and now looking at awnings and I noticed that you can buy a veranda pole for an awning.

Okay, this is probably a basic question but - what is a veranda pole?
And if folks have one do you use it much.

Thanks

Paul

It's a pole that goes across the front of your awning, inside, which allows you to fold the whole front half-way down, to give a wide opening on very hot days.  We use ours sometimes - and if my sister and her small children are with us, then we use it a lot.

Thanks for the quick reply Val.

I think I have seen them on sites when we were out in the tent. Now I know I what one is I don't think i will need one.

Thanks again.

They are very handy for hanging towels on to dry.

It also means when you are hot and need to open up the front of the awning you don't have to unpeg all the front or move stuff from that area. Also it makes it very easy to close up again before departing.

A Veranda Pole is a bit like a Veranda in your house. If you don't have one you would not miss it but if you did have one, you'd use it more often than not.

We had one on our last awning and I miss it like hell because our new awning does to have that kind of front.

We find ours handy on hot days, it's good for keeping the dog in the awning too.

Thanks for all of the help on this one. The point about the dog is a good one.

I will probably wait and have a nose around the sites over the summer when we are out and about.
