I am suffering with wicked back ache when using the made up bed, cushions face down. To try and ease this problem I am thinking of buying and using a memory foam mattress topper to go on top of the cushions.
My question is has anyone tried one of these mattress toppers, if so how did they get on or does anyone have any other ideas of how to try and make the bed more comfortable?
Hi Paul & Pam, I don't know about the toppers but two friends of mine have the memory foam matresses and they are really pleased with them. One of our friends has rheumatoid athritis and she says that it does relieve the pain, so I would think the topper would be just as good.
we have used the memory foam toppers, they made a huge difference. We got 2 singles rather than a double as we found them easier to store under the bed.
we have toppers on the bed at home and the fixed bed in the van. money well spent, not had an uncomfortable nights sleep since and zero aches and pains in the morning.
We will go out this week-end to try and source a suitable mattress topper, just one further question; how do you store your mattress toppers when not in use - rolled up under bench seat?
I saw an advert in the caravan club megazine recently for toppers. You told them what caravan you have and they have a made to measure topper for it. Like a fool I recycled the mag before removing the advert. There was a website..... anybody able to help with website address? Ta.
I have a super kingsize one for in the van and store mine under the seats the trick is to get a heavy duty bin bag and a air bed pump and suck all the air out of the bag and mattress.
If it does inflate a bit whilst being stored re suck the air out of the back and take it out of its storage place.
Its was great fun trying this I tried the proper bags but they were not big enough
I got mine from Raskelf on-line, (its the 2" thick model). I declined the Washable, zipped cover, its just covered in stockinette. It came rolled up with a wide band (about 1") of elastic round each end. Every morning I roll it back up, put it back in the polythene bag it arrived in and shove it under the bench. Only the ends are slightly curled up, but it doesn't give you any hassle.
Mine actually doesn't cure my back problem (I have a proper memory foam mattress at home, and neither does that!), but definitely eases it a bit. Our van's seats are rock hard, being new and they cripple me.
I wouldn't be without my memory foam, they're a lot more comfy than van seats or a traditional mattress.
Does anyone know where to get memory foan mattress toppers from without going on the internet, away this weekend and too late to order. Any high street shops stock em do you know??
Can't think of the name of the shop - one of those out of town shops that stock curtains, bedding, cushions and all the guff that goes with them. Not Richleys (who just went bust), but same sort of place. It'll come to me in a minute...... Might begin with a D, but then again, might not
