We have done a deal for a new bailey pageant 6 but if you have previously read my topic you know that this is on hold until we check out the series 7. The deal was based on trading in our Champagne for £4.5K but our daughter has decided to buy it from us for the same amount. We haven't told the dealer yet.

Has anyone done the same & what has the reaction been? We are going to have to re do the deal anyway & thought that they would not give us the same deal & as daughter was getting "a bargain" ( the things you do for your kids eh!!!) we have let her buy it.

They will normally tell you that they are "giving you" a great deal but it should make no difference to them as you have taken away their risk I have done this with a few cars in the past and as long as they got their money they had no problem with it, cash or van should not matter to them.

We just did the same.  We did a deal to trade in our Bailey Ranger 550/6 against a new 620/6.  The dealer said our van was worth £4975, but he would do us a deal at £6k.  (therefore just knocking off £1100 off the cost of the new van)

We subsequently sold our van for £6k but the dealer still gave us the £1100 off the cost of the new one.  So we made a bit of profit and the dealer was fine about it.

We did the same, then the buyer of our old caravan backed out at the last minute, our dealer completed despite us mucking about.

Remember you are doing them a favour buying from them not the other way round.

Cheers

Paul

Our dealer tells you when you do the deal that you are free to sell your van privatley and don't have to tell them until the day you come to p/x if necessary.

He gives you 2 quotes based on with p/x and without p/x, so you know exactly what the deals are and you don't have to re-negotioate.

We are currently trying to sell our Bretagne but if it doesn't sell then it will be going in for p/x on the 2nd May!

If anything it's got to make the dealers life easier as he hasn't then got a 2nd hand van to sell.

Good luck re-negotiating.

Faulkner have you had the e-mail from Bailey with the layouts of the new Series 7 on? I did try to paste it on here but it won't let me for some reason.

Joty
