My two always know when we're getting ready for a trip.
They are lab x collie, and they love going away.
If my daughter is staying at home then we usually leave Sage (She's the lighter coloured one in my profile pics) with her as she is her dog and won't get in the car if her boss is at home - but if she's out when we leave then Sage comes. My dog Jazz (the darker one) is in the car well before we're ready to go.
Beware of some sites who charge a lot for dogs.
As soon as our 2 collies see the van is on the road outside the house they site infront of the door in the porch so you can't get out without them
We have to be sly when packing, as our dog gets far to excited, in the end we have to let her in the car. Even if its going to be a couple of hours before we go she sits in the boot watching. It makes our weekends enjoyable having the dog we enjoy walking and most pubs are getting more dog friendly. As long as we remember her teddy she settles well even when we leave her to go out at night.
If there were any stray dogs around I for one would have very strong words with the owners/wardens, I expect everyone to keep to the rules that way we all enjoy our holls.
Our dogs Hollie and Dylan love the caravan the only problem we have is getting them out of the car when we arrive home. Anyone will think its there caravan?
Our 2 Jack Russels love coming with us (don't like being left out). We are now hoping to get their pet passport done ready for next years holidays (might be France again or Ireland). Unfortunately we have to use kennels this year but we are all really excited about them coming to France with us next year, and it will be so much better for them (they are ok in kennels as they are together but this year we are away for nearly 3 weeks and next year will probably be at least 3 weeks (hubby has a new job which gives more holidays than previous one) and that such a long time for them and for us. They love coming with us in te UK and especially love playing on beaches!
Scarletsfan, I know that dogs have to be tethered on site, what I was saying was just think where you tether them and will it be safe, our dogs used to have half of our awning which was fenced across from the van to the centre pole, this means they don't need to be tied down, and with one side window let halfway down, they get plenty of air, and we sat in the awning with them.it's just that I have seen dogs wrapped around the jockey wheel and the caravan legs,I think the ideal place is to tether them just inside the awning so they can go in and out as they please, but everyone has their own ideas, I just wanted to make sure that all dogs are safe.
Jack always comes with us and loves it he is a Springer spaniel , I have to admit being amazed he wants to come as it was on his 1st outing caravanning he was attacked by a Rotty!
But he loves the walks and the cuddling up to us, (just bought a bigger van in attempt to get him off our feet at night !)
