Thinking of putting solar panels on my static-campsite owner has given permission for me.

I'm not sure, but if you do a search for "solar" in the caravan section or maybe the equipment section, I'm sure there will be loads of advice, as it has been covered before.

Hi Andy , what sort of items are you looking to run  tv , washing machine , lighting ?
I would say you could probably run most low power items , but not a washing machine or a kettle , ie no power hungry items .
For these ( power hungry ) to run you'd need a bank of batterys a 3000 watt inverter and some big heavy solar panels , i think the cost of a system like this would be a lot more than £2000 .
You could imo have some solar panels charging up a couple of batterys with a charge controller inline , change your static lighting to Led lighting and supply your sockets using an inverter , but you would only be able to run items that are low power .
For your hot water you could go for the water filled solar panels , but remember no sun no hot water and these will be costly .
You maybe far better off using gas to heater your water .
You will need to work out how much weight your roof could take ie fitting the panels to it and work out how much power you would be using and for how long .

Sorry to put a dampener on your idea , but i think you may have to put up with paying the high power charges , you may be able to make some savings by running a small solar power system , but it would be quite costly to do and you would be relying on good amounts of day light to power your system .
