Do I need to get surg protected extension lead when using off caravan socket for running 7 inch lcd tv. I have amplified arial and dvd player as well hence need to use extension lead or would normal ext be ok. Thanks trevh.

You need it when you need it but there is no way of knowing when

I've never had any damage due to surging but I now use surge protected leads as they don't cost a lot more

I would have thought it unlikely that you'll need a surge protected extension lead .

you can get a surge from generators but you should not get one from standard 12v supply in the van.

We don't use one.

My OH is a spark so he would be the first person who would use one if it was necessary
