Can anone help please? We would like to purchase a canopy for our caravan to save putting up the awning as we tour France but we don't think our caravan wil take one as it has a curved roof and the rollers are straight.  It is a Swift challenger 520SE (98/99 model).  Does anyone have any advice or experience for us?

My caravan is a Swift, and the canopy slides into the awning rail!

Do you mean the ones like a blind that pull out?

Welcome, by the way.

Thanks for the welcome.  I do mean the wind out ones that hang in a bag on the awning rail.  Our awning rail is curved and we assume the wind out canopies have a straight pole in them.

You could get a canopy than goes into the awning rail & holds up at the front with 3 poles & guy ropes. much cheaper than the roll out type & quick enough to put up.

Thanks but we are after one that comes out straight and provides overhead cover.  We have been looking at the Fiamma one that winds out.  Has anyone used one like that on this model caravan?

The wind out awnings are probably too heavy for most caravans in terms of bolting through the wall (some German 'vans can have one bolted through the roof).

A Caravanstore can be fitted to a 'van with a moderate curve to the awning rail.  We had a 3.0m one fitted to our '9  2 Elddis Cyclone (double dinette 5 berth).

We have a 3.6m Zip model fitted to our 2002 Eccles Onyx (O/S fixed bed 16' 8" internal) and the sides do not cross a window.

The Caravanstore is fitted by unrolling the canopy, slide the beading through the rail and roll back up again.

If you fit one, use some clear waterproof tape on the 'van wall where the poles rest to prevent damage to the paintwork.

A non-Zip canopy can be fitted with sidewalls and front to create a full awning using the 'Clip' system as per wind-out awnings.

Have a measure up to see how much straight-ish rail you have.

Hope this helps.

Mike
